If you’ve never had the chance to check out Jake Dobkin’s photoblog you should really check him out. He has a great eye and takes some amazing pictures of the city.
I like this picture because it captures street art, old time building advertisment and a modern day billboard ad all in the same frame. Three different mediums, all with the same purpose. Jake has a unique ability to make you feel like you’re actually there at the moment in time when he snapped the picture. For me there’s one reaction from a good photograph, the longing, the want to be there in that moment, to be in that moment that is captured forever on film. It’s not easy to capture that feeling, but Dobkin does it. Do yourself a favor and go take a look at some of his other work.
