In an attempt to make your iPod obsolete within a week of purchasing it Apple announced a new iPod, soon to be released, that plays video.
An update of the iPod photo the new iPod has a 2 1/2 inch color screen and comes in 30 and 60 GB models. Apple has struck a deal with ABC to sell episodes of ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘Lost’.
Wait a second, wait a second. Are you freaking telling me BlogNYC is going to be able to watch episodes of ‘Lost’ on the subway instead of just watching on our DVR whenever we want? Will they be able to stop the rush of people stampeding to watch Desperate Housewives on a 2 1/2 inch screen?
I suppose we could possibly see a market for using iPod video but we highly doubt it’s going to be on selling day old episodes of TV shows. Are people really so busy that they don’t have the time to TiVo a show and watch it later?
There have been over 28 million iPods sold since Apple introduced them in 2001, with sales tripling last year.
Check out the photos at the Flickr photoset.
And apparently now you can also see it on Apple’s website, although when I got these pictures, it wasn’t up yet, I was just slow in posting them.
