Radioaddress_1I was reading this article in the NYT about the weekly Presidential radio address, which is about as useful as a book without pictures on Paris Hilton’s bookshelf, and I saw this picture.

See anything strange about Bush’s picture?

Why the hell does Bush have wounded soldiers on crutches behind him at his radio address.  What possible point could that serve other than as another photo-op for the President.

You’re not convincing anyone this war is going well or worth fighting for.  We all know you lied to get us into it.  A majority of Americans think you’re doing a horrible job handling the war and your new photo-ops with the troops isn’t going to help anything.

So stop with your fake press conferences and your lies and bullshit.  And stop using American soldiers for your god damned photo-ops.

By the way, the White House director of media operations says she believes that the number of Americans turning into the Presidential radio address is in the millions.  Has anyone in their life ever heard of someone listening to one of those things?  In the millions?  On Saturday morning at 10:00AM?  They don’t even have a figure on how many radio stations actually broadcast the address, so it’s odd that they can magically come up with a figure like that.

Also, Elisabeth Bumiller mentions the "Al Qaeda letter" that Bush talked about in his address last Saturday:

Mr. Bush, after telling his listeners this past Saturday that the Iraqi
election was a "critical step forward," seized on the letter as an
argument for keeping American troops in the country. The letter, he
said, showed that Al Qaeda "intends to make Iraq a terrorist haven and
a staging ground for attacks against other nations, including the United States."

She conveniently leaves out the fact that the letter has pretty much been proven to be a fake.  Way to report the facts there.  It’s today’s media ethic.  It’s not a complete lie, it’s just not the whole truth.  It’s like the media is selling you a brand new Mercedes, but not telling you there’s no engine inside of it.

Such a shiny pretty Mercedes — where can I buy one of these media cars? Woo! It takes no gasoline that is a selling point too!

Nearly everything sells when it is flashed on the screen or hyped on the radio. My cupboards are full of new fangled doodads, electric gizmos, and amazing gadgets — and I saved a bunch because I jumped quickly on the one time offers and the two for one deals.

Save yourself! Tune out the media before it is too late.

    Sincerely,

    A media junkie
