Chiba over at subtextnyc.com trekked out to Brooklyn to check out the unveiling of the new R160 prototypes. It seems like there’s not that much difference from the R143’s that came out in 2001 except for the kick ass signage.
The signs can change to accomodate whatever track the train is on. Handy the next time you’re on the "A" that jumps over the "F" line and leaves you stranded for two hours trying to figure out how the hell to get home on a Sunday evening. See where it shows the "C", that’s actually a fully functional TV that can display track information. And the stops are all digitally displayed and can be changed too. There’s also a handy new big, red "next stop" indicator that moves along as with the train.
Go check out Chiba’s post for more pictures.
