Billyjoel_1I’ve heard of playing small venues, but the 92nd Street Y?  Damn!  And half the seats were empty!  When you can’t sell out the Y, it might be time to hang it up.  And you might want to teach your big mouthed, 26 year old wife some manners, it sounds like she doesn’t know when to shut the fuck up.

Lady - I’m happy for you, you’re 26 and you married Billy Joel. Good for you.

I went to see your husband give a TALK last night, yes, he played SOME
songs, but it was mostly a talk. You sat behind me (you were in row O,
seat 113).. YOU and YOUR FRIENDS did not SHUT THE FUCK UP for TWO HOURS
- then the three of you gradually walked out while your husband was
STILL TALKING.

It’s not like you were in an ARENA, this was a 900 seat theater, half
the seats were empty - everyone heard you three, as you were THE ONLY
PEOPLE TALKING during the WHOLE SHOW (until you left that is).

While I agree there were some nutso fanatics shouting things out - did you have to point at and laugh at all of them?

Billy - I love your tunes,as a courtesy to your audience, maybe your
people could keep her in the dressing room next time you do a small gig
like this.

Isn’t Billy on the wagon?  This sounds like the kind of woman that might start Billy drinking again, I know I would.  I think everyone will understand if you fall off the wagon Billy.

In response to Mr. Poling’s comment “I’ve heard of playing small venues, but the 92nd Street Y? Damn! And half the seats were empty! When you can’t sell out the Y, it might be time to hang it up.”

I attended the lecture in question, and it looked quite full to me. So much for your attempt at hyperbole. I’ll admit that some elderly 92nd St. Y subscribers and families left before the end of the night, as it might have been running a bit long for them, at 2 hours, 45 minutes. As for Billy’s wife, I was not sitting near enough to hear her chattiness, but frankly, if I were Billy’s age and a woman like that showed interest in me, I wouldn’t be the one who leaves skid marks running in the other direction. I’d suck it up and stay in bed with her for two weeks straight without leaving!

Incidentally, listening to Billy talk and play only a handful of songs was infinitely more entertaining than any Billy Joel concert I’ve been to .. and I’ve been to many!

    Heh, heh! Nope! :-)
I was there, too, and profess to be an even bigger fan…talkin’ demos, rarities, etc. Seen him in concert 7 times, incl. once w/ Elton, plus this was the 2nd Q&A session.

I agree - the room was pretty much full, and I wasn’t close enough to hear Katie Lee talking.

‘Twas good that a teacher got the last question in, though, and that this dude that someone in the Y was connected to was nice enough to ask Billy to donate his time for the Q&A.
