Blog NYC is happy to introduce it’s new girl about town and restaurant critic, Mona.  Mona, of Mona’s Apple fame, will occasionally be sharing her NYC dining experiences with us.  "Why Mona," you ask?

Well, she’s a self-proclaimed poor girl, who, in her own words, "[doesn’t] make reservations every week to eat out on purpose for the blog. I don’t have the money to do that, instead I just kind of go where desires happen to take me, whether it’s with friends or family".  That’s why Mona.  95% of the NYC food critics are pompous asses that go to places most people can’t even afford to eat.  We encourage Mona to critique a freaking hot dog stand if she wants to.

In order to introduce her to the site, we asked Mona if there was anything she wanted to say about herself and this is what she sent us, "Mona’s just a poor girl in TV news who loves eating out and sharing her
experiences. She enjoys mixing her passion for food with her passion
for writing."

Very nice, simple, sweet, but kind of short, so we decided to fill in some of the blanks by just completely making stuff up.

Mona was born on a small farm in a small Pennsylvania town in the middle of nowhere.  She had a hard life on that farm.  She learned how to milk a cow before she learned how to walk.  Mona, who was named after the famous 17th century agriculturalist Monaslansky Winifred, took an interest in restaurants at a very early age.

Unfortunately, there were no restaurants within fifty miles of her since she lived in the sticks, on a farm, in rural Pennsylvania, in the middle of nowhere.  Mona wouldn’t let the stop her though.  She would make her father build fake restaurant backdrops in the barn where she would eat dozens of hard boiled eggs and allow her imagination run wild, pretending she was eating mediocre cuisine from some of the finest, cheapest restaurants in New York City.

As soon as she was old enough, Mona took two of her finest chickens to market, sold them, and bought a one-way bus ticket to the big city and never looked back.  She’s been here ever since.  Living out her life long dream of being a poor girl in TV news who loves eating out and sharing her
experiences.  But really, isn’t that the dream of all little girls?

Mona’s is truly a story that warms the heart, and is sure to be a Lifetime movie sometime in the near future.  Welcome aboard Mona.
