Say what you will about the transit strike, it’s managing to do one thing perhaps no one dreamed about.  The strike, which we suppose, could be considered a major pain in the ass, is also bringing people closer together.  People from all walks of life are uniting, coming together just squeeze four strangers in their car to be able to drive into Manhattan.

Why just yesterday, the New York times documented the life of a lowly office temp catching a ride to work in a BMW.  That’s just crazy talk!  Who’d have ever thought of such a thing.  An office temp in a BMW, you don’t say!

And that’s just the beginning.  In the Bronx someone spotted a minivan with a dental office worker (whatever that is), a doorman, and man who actually had a son…a son that was with him.  I think we all remember the dental office worker/doorman riots that took place in the late 70’s, I don’t think any of us could have imagined that we’d ever see the day they’d be sharing the same minivan to work.

Not only do I think this strike was the right thing to do.  I think it’s exactly what Jesus wanted.  Besides, what’s Christmas supposed to be all about?  Bringing people closer together, opening up their hearts and letting people in.  And there’s no better way to bring joy to fellow mankind than with that age old holiday saying, "I can’t fucking believe they won’t let me in with three people.  Hey you, do you need a fucking ride?"

And to all a good night!  Merry Christmas everyone.
