You only have a couple more weeks to enjoy those nicely decorate Christmas trees.  The city announced today it will start Christmas tree pick-ups next Wednesday, Jan. 5th.  Pickups will last 10 days through Jan. 14th.

Make sure you remove all the lights and tinsel and decorations or else, no Christmas tree removal for you.

Of course, having your tree picked up right in front of your apartment is the boring, slacker way to do it.  The real party animals are going to wait and take their trees to "Mulchfest" 2006 on the weekend of Jan. 7th and 8th in parks all over the city.  Mulchfest: it’s mulchtacular!

Last year the city picked up over 156,000 trees and recycled them into mulch for the city’s parks.  Sources say the city’s plans are the same this year even though we have desperately tried to convince them that lighting 156,000 Christmas trees on fire simultaneously would make one bitching ass bonfire.  Have you ever seen a dried out Christmas tree light up?  Multiply that by 156,000.  You’d keep Long Island warm from Manhattan.
