We know we’re not so quick on the uptake but we just got back from meetings all over Manhattan this morning. On our train ride into the city we saw the covers of the Daily News all over the train with the headline "ALIVE", announcing that 12 out of the 13 miners in West Virginia had been been rescued from the mine explosion that took place 41 hours ago.
Seeing that headline first thing this morning actually touched us and gave us a warm feeling, fuzzy feeling, that we first confused for gas. We watched as other people noticed the covers of the papers that people were holding up, and we watched as a little smile crept across their face as they read the headline and the good news.
That was all we heard until we got back to BlogNYC headquarters and turned on CNN. Unfortunately, almost every paper this morning went to print in such a rush that they didn’t have time to check their facts.
So much for our piece on seeing good news on the front page for a change.
Hmm, aren’t bloggers usually the ones taking the hits on spurious printing without checking their facts?
