You think your job sucks, at least you’re not Peter Braunstein’s lawyer. This guy just pled not guilty to the halloween sex attack on a woman who knew and identified him then following the attack went on the lam for three weeks. You can almost hear the sound of his lawyer’s hand hitting his forehead as Braunstein uttered his not guilty plea. Robert Gottlieb, Braunstein’s lawyer, hasn’t said he was going to seek an insanity defense.
Admittedly, our only legal training comes from years of watching ‘Law & Order’ but what the fuck? Maybe it’s just us but we think screaming, “I’m the man you’ve been looking for,” then plunging a knife into your neck not to mention having a video taped copy of the assualt in your possession might not look too good for a jury.
If just looking batshit crazy was a legal defense Braunstein would definitely get off scot-free.
