Mattress

It’s a dog eat dog world when it comes to real estate in NYC.  Only sometimes that can go a little overboard.   So one night, group of drunk architecture students decided to stuff a mattress into a whole cut above one of their bedroom doors and advertise it on Craigslist.

"$35 — elevated mattress-sized space between rooms." He used a
minimalist pitch. "Opening between hall and room available for
long/short-term use, accessible by ladder, sheets and pillows not
provided." The ad went up around noon, and by the end of that day, Mr.
Freeman had a dozen potential takers.

That’s all fine and dandy, but the idiots went ahead and held an open house, knowing full well the current occupant of the bedroom wasn’t really down with someone hanging half over his bedroom door.  So the people that actually did show up got to experience a big fat waste of time.

Anyone who’s ever had to apartment hunt or find a room share in NYC knows how frustrating and long it can be, now you have to add to your search a drunken architecture student filter who likes to play games to relieve their boredom.

Besides, judging from the picture of the crappy design they rigged up, I’d be hesitant about setting foot into any of their buildings.  But for $35, I would have shared that mattress with someone.
