A dog was killed in Park Slope yesterday when he walked across a portion of electrified sidewalk near 3rd Ave and 3rd St. ConEd blamed the problem on stray voltage from an old city street lamp that had been removed more than two years ago, although ConEd claims they were never informed by the DOT that the lamp had been removed.

A similar incident happened in Manhattan on Monday when a dog owner was walking her dog on 14th St. between Fifth and Sixth Aves.

This seems to be an unfortunately common occurance following snowstorms. Fortunately, no humans were killed in either of these incidents. Almost exactly two years and a month ago, Jodie Lane was killed in the East Village when she was electrocuted by exposed wires on East 11th St.
