Arnulfo Espana, a hardworking immigrant from Mexico, was killed yesterday as he was rushing to catch a train. A friend who was with him said that he tripped on the last step, stumbled across the platform and landed with his head just off the platform as the train pulled in.
Espana was pronounced dead at the hospital. Espana was the breadwinner of his family, coming to this country 4 months ago to earn more money for his wife and kids back home. Andres had two of his sons follow him to the United States to work. They tried to explain that they haven’t even been able to get a hold of their mother yet to let her know because she doesn’t have a phone.
If this post we talked about earlier sets any sort of precedent, perhaps the Espana family can sue the MTA for installing stairs instead of a safer, non-trip slide or something.
