NYC schools don’t have enough money for books or basic necessities and we have a principal bribing her teachers with extra overtime pay just to do what they should be doing in the first place.
Rohloff offered to give teachers three hours of overtime - roughly $114 - to hang up “students work” and “throw away piles of old papers,” according to the e-mail, obtained by the Daily News.
“We are expecting Rose DePinto [senior counselor to the chancellor] to visit anytime after April 3,” the e-mail warned. “We need to be ready.”
Whatever happened to, “hey just do your fucking job”? The best part is that this principal is a recent graduate of Mayor Bloomberg’s Leadership Acadamy for new principals.
[she] also ordered her staff to “remove the work done by students near where Paul Skittone is teaching” because “the work is of very poor quality.” Skittone could not be reached for comment.
Wow, no better way to make Paul Skittone and his students to feel like a bunch of jackasses than to personally call them out in an e-mail asking to take their work down because it sucks so bad.
Here’s part of the personal message from Principal Jolanta Roloff on the Lafayette High website:
The principal provides leadership at Lafayette High School by building and maintaining a vision, by giving direction and focus to student-learning, and by creating an atmosphere of participation, responsibility, and ownership.
And bribes and public humiliation, don’t forget that! Man, Leadership Acadamy rocks! Bribery and shame, it’s the backbone of America.
