Besides spawning the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, two of my most hated sports franchises and their basic inability to properly pronounce the “r” sound, it seems that Massachusetts may have actually done something right for a change. Yesterday, they became the first state to pass a nearly universal health care bill that is being supported by both republicans and democrats, and hailed as a triumph in healthcare achievement. Let’s hope that some other states start following suit.

Want a neat little picture by your comments? Get one here.i don’t know how much of an achievment it is… it essentially makes it illegal for anyone in the state to NOT have health insurance. they are going to subsidize some policies for lower wage workers, but still sounds to me like this is the insurance industry’s wet dream.

Yeah, I agree that part sucks. But it is also holding business accountable for not offering health insurance, so I don’t think the burden is going to be totally on the individual.
Could it be a better truly socialized healthcare bill? Sure. But at least it’s a start.
