Let’s do a real quick rundown of our current administration in a nutshell, and we’ll just talk about recent events.
First, outing of a CIA agent. We find out from court testimony that while the direct order may not have been given by the President for this to happen, he definitely set the ball rolling.
The Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State can’t even play nice with each other let alone the rest of the world. Rumsfeld acts like the little kid who gets made fun of then guns down the entire school.
Bush gets outsmarted on Iraq policy by a student at John Hopkins. Starts laughing maniacially and breathing heavy in lieu of an answer. DOESN’T ANYONE REMEMBER WHEN WE HAD A PRESIDENT WHO INSISTED WITH PRIDE, “THE BUCK STOPS HERE”? Not with Bushy, that motherfucker runs as far away from the buck as he can get.
Not one, not two, but three retired generals say not only that Rummy should be shitcanned but that the military is seriously fucked up right now. And these aren’t just any generals, they’re generals who happen to be experts on the Middle East, at least one of which was helping to train the new “Iraqi Army”.
While Bush blames the media for not reporting on the good news in Iraq, the the US Embassy and military command in Baghdad release a report on how dire the situation actually is.
Young Army officers, including growing numbers of captains who leave as soon as their initial commitment is fulfilled, are bailing out of active-duty service at rates that have alarmed senior officers. Last year, more than a third of the West Point class of 2000 left active duty at the earliest possible moment, after completing their five-year obligation. It was the second year in a row of worsening retention numbers, apparently marking the end of a burst of patriotic fervor during which junior officers chose continued military service at unusually high rates.
