In case you’re not familiar with Molly the Cat, she’s an 11-month-old cat that’s been trapped behind a wall between two 19th century buildings in the West Village for 13 days now. Apparently because of gas lines and other “dangers” no one can just bash through the wall and rescue this poor, traumatized cat. They are however using the most modern technology known to man to try and lure the cat out.
Cat Therapist Carole Wilbourn used the sounds of whales on tape to try and lure Molly out, and told Molly, “Oh come on Molly you can do it. We love you Molly. Have some catnip.”
“If we could just get her to relax her body if she was pinned between something…”That’s what I was hoping to do was to give her the inspiration,” Wilbourn said.
Say what you will about Carole Wilbourn, but she is one hell of a cat therapist. Trying to lure a cat out of a wall with whale sounds? Pure genius. And if telling a cat that you love it isn’t enough to lure it out from the two brick walls it’s been sandwiched between for the past 13 days…I for one say fuck that selfish cat.
I heard once they succesfully led a rescue effort of a monkey trapped in a sewer drain by playing the sounds of the classic 80’s band Toto over and over.
