Is it over yet? That is what I kept asking myself throughout American Idol does the Standard Classics week.
The producers this week went all out by digging up the prehistoric fossil that is Rod Stewart to help the Idol contestants arrange songs to sing from performers old enough to be the great-grandparents of any American Idol winner’s record buying public.
Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t one of Simon’s biggest complaints early in the competition that the young performers were singing songs that were too old and would only be appealing to the geriatric sect? With that in mind, I don’t understand why the show would force the contestants to swim in this sea of prune juice. The show was so sappy it even made Simon sweet.
I was only able to find two things remotely amusing this week.
The first was the bizarre slicked back caricature of a 1920’s Italian undertaker hairdo that Ace was sporting. Ryan asked him if the hairdo hurt? Ace’s answer was “No.

Want a neat little picture by your comments? Get one here.I think you missed the boat on this one. This was one of the best Idol shows this year. I actually hate Rod Stewert and Barry Manilow but they defintely had the best Idol shows. You could tell they cared about the idol’s and were truely there to help…
Next week should be a snorefest though… But by far the worst episode of idol this year was the one i looked forward to the most… Queen.
