Unfortunately, people are starving to death while waiting for said “quality journalism”. You know a company is in trouble when the head of that company holds a lecture to talk about how not in trouble the company actually is.
Jill Abramson, managing editor of the NYT, held a lecture last week to talk about journalism was still alive and well and how the NYT is still relevant. I was ok with all of that until out of nowhere, Abramson took a jab at bloggers when she said, “We believe in a journalism of verification rather than assertion.”
It was the first time I actually agreed with her. Hopefully the Times can follow in our footsteps and start verifying some of the stuff they print before they print it.
