I realize that teaching is not an easy job. I also realize that teaching in NYC might make the job a little more difficult. And I’m sure teaching special ed on top of all of that must be even more challenging. That being said, when you get to the point where you actually think it’s a good idea to bound and gag your students, an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old, with duct tape, it’s probably a good idea to find a new career, obviously teaching isn’t your gig.
A Brooklyn public schoolteacher bound two special education students to their chairs and sealed their mouths shut with duct tape, authorities said yesterday.
Carrie Roberson, 57, a teacher at PS 270 in Clinton Hill, was charged with child endangerment in the bizarre Jan. 12 incident that left the boys shaken and their families furious.
“She said ‘Sit down, sit still and be quiet.’ I said, ‘Okay,’” recalled Johnathan Grant, 10. “She put the tape around me with my arms down. I said, ‘What are you doing?’ She said, ‘Be quiet,’ and put the tape around my lips.”
The only positive side to this story is that when these guys are old men and have grandchildren, you know they’re going to tell this story to show how easy the kids of the future have it. “You know, in my day they used to bound and gag us with duct tape at school…”
