Can we please just make a new law forbidding Disney from making musicals? Admittedly, I’m not the biggest fan of musicals in the first place, but Disney’s whorifying of whatever it can get its hands on isn’t making things better.
I know there are people out there who are like, “Oh, but we love the ‘Lion King’, it’s such a great musical…we wuv it, so.”
Shut the fuck up. Ok, here’s the deal. Disney can make musicals, they’re just not allowed to bring them to NYC anymore. Show them at Disney World or Disney Land or Euro Disney, anywhere but here. We’ve already fucked up and let TGI Fridays, Olive Garden and Red fucking Lobster take over Time’s Square, can we at least try and take back the theatre district from this encroachment of homogenization that’s turning our city into a giant sized version of every other fucking town in America. Remember when people used to come to NYC to experience its diversity and culture, not to eat the exact same corporate cheeseburger they can get in every other podunk town in the country?
