It’s no secret that our lovely Governor, the slightly less than honorable George Pataki, has been taking NYC tax money and diverting it out of the city for years. That was actually one thing Bloomberg was adamant about when he got into office was standing up to Pataki, for taking money out of NYC and dumping it into Westchester and other upstate counties.
Queens City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. says he’s “deadly serious” about making New York City the 51st state.
Vallone reintroduced legislation last week that calls for secession from the Empire State. He first proposed it in 2003.
It’s not likely to happen anytime soon — making secession a reality would require the approval of voters, the Legislature, the governor, Congress and even the president.
The President? I hope he drew up his proposal in crayon. Can’t we secede from the Union too, just until 2008?
