Early Sunday morning a man on a Carnival Cruise ship, the Carnival Legend, jumped overboard, reportedly after having an argument with his wife.
The Carnival Legend was headed back to NYC which was the last stop on the eight-day round-trip cruise, which visited San Juan, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas, one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, before Tortola. The ship circled back to look for the man and the Coast Guard sent a C-130 plane but after 12 hours of searching the Coast Guard sent the ship on its way. The incident did however make us wonder why Carnival Cruise Lines hasn’t thought about revising their contingency plan to alert ship personnel to a serious incident on board.
Passengers said a call of “Bravo, bravo,” used to alert crew members to a serious incident, was heard over the ship’s announcement system.
Bravo, bravo? Is that really the first thing you should hear after you see someone jump over the side of a cruise ship? I don’t know which genius Carnival executive came up with that idea, but I’d love to see their sexual harrassment policy.
