Parts of a pre-Revolutionary stone wall that was discovered in Lower Manhattan last fall, went on display to the public today in Battery Park. Archeologists are quick to point out that while this wall is much like today’s modern walls in that it seperated either one room from another or the outside from the inside, it is quite different from today’s walls in the fact that it is really very old whereas most of today’s walls are much newer.
Visitors to the wall could be overheard remarking, “yep, that’s a wall all right,” and “wow, I thought I really knew what an old wall was, boy was I wrong.”
Battery Conservancy, which raises money to maintain and improve the 23-acre park where the wall was discovered says in its official press release that anyone with a lobotomy will assuredly be fascinated by seeing the wall.
