The Falls Bar and Bistro in SoHo has been shut down under the city’s nuisance abatement laws. Police announced the immediate closure of the bar located at 218 Lafayette St. but said that the closing was unrelated to the murder of Imette St. Guillen.
In 2005 and this year, 911 emergency services and 311, the city’s information line, received numerous calls and complaints about the bar. Complaints included excessive noise and reports of disorder and crimes committed inside and outside the bar. Police did not specify the crimes.
This year, from January through May, the city cited the bar three times on violations of selling alcohol to minors and one time on a violation of selling alcohol after hours.
The bar’s website has already been taken down with no announcement or comment about the closing. While city is saying the closing is unrelated to the Imette St. Guillen case, the bar’s owner still face charges in that incident of hiring Darryl Littlejohn, a convicted felon.
