AOL/Netscape launched a beta version of its new news portal today where they basically just rip off Digg.com’s idea. It’s already backfiring. The number one story voted on by users today is how AOL stole the idea from Digg.

Digg is a technology news website that employs non-hierarchical editorial control. With digg, users submit stories for review, but rather than allowing an editor to decide which stories go on the homepage, the users do.

Go put in your vote, and see how long AOL actually allows the story to stay at the top.
