juniors.jpg After 56 years in Brooklyn as the City’s most famous cheesecake, Junior’s is taking its show on the road, but not too far. On Monday, the third generation family-owned restaurant opened an outpost in Times Square.

Hey, at least it’s a New York staple that’s opening and not another Friday’s or Red Lobster joint. Bloomberg was there to kickoff the occassion assuring everyone that the Times Square location won’t be replacing the Brooklyn landmark anytime soon.

“For nearly 60 years, Junior’s has been the world capital of cheesecake — and other great food — so it’s great to welcome them today to the crossroads of the world,” Bloomberg said.

The new Junior’s is on 45th St near Broadway. If you go there, be sure and mention BlogNYC for a really strange reaction like, “what the hell are you talking about?”
