The new new design for the Freedom Tower is going to include a lighted spire at the top meant to evoke the message of the Statue of Liberty’s torch.
The spire that tops the tower will feature a revolving beacon that could change color and cast beams of light into the sky, while thousands of glass prisms will cover the building’s 20-story, windowless base.
While architects haven’t strayed from their original plan for a windowless 20-story base, they have decided to place 13-foot high panels that contain glass prisms on the outside. I still think seeing a 1,700 foot skyscraper where the first 20-floors have no windows will be a little offsetting, but it will be interesting to see the new lighted spire I suppose.
It’s hard to get behind any plan or artist rendition you see, just thinking of the squabbling and catfighting and politicking that’s delayed the construction so long makes me want to not even think about it until it’s finished.

I seriously wished we just rebuilt the WTC as it was. Nothing would say more about us as Americans, knock us down, get back up again, if anything we should have just built them BIGGER.

yeah, but we’re not Americans anymore. We’re cliches. We don’t need to rebuild the WTC. We need a Freedom Tower!
