The unprecedented and meteoric rise of Williamsburg as the hipster Mecca of the entire Western world has taken the MTA by surprise.
Just four years ago the MTA spent $443 million on a new fleet of L trains and it’s already too small to handle the new surge of hipster straphangers commuting into the Manhattan from Williamsburg. The annual ridership of the L line has gone up by almost 15 million to over 30 million riders annually in just 11 years.
The MTA’s original plan of distracting regular L train riders with strategically placed boxes of second hand, tight-fitting t-shirts is only a temporary fix says an MTA spokesperson.
Oh, L, not enuf trains! [Daily News]

Want a neat little picture by your comments? Get one here. The L is the one train in my parent’s house so I used to take all the time into Manhattan.
I remember seeing all the hipsters getting on the train around the Lorimer stop & wishing someday I could be as intellectually developed as they were LOL.
