Hizzoner had the nerve to stand up at a press conference yesterday and thank ConEd chief Kevin Burke for the job he’s done. That’s sort of like watching an arsonist burn your house to the ground then thank him for calling 911.
Local Queens pols were having nothing to do with Bloomberg’s graciousness. Assemblyman Mike Gianaris and Councilmen Eric Gioia and Peter Vallone Jr. were behind Bloomberg as he made the comments and were clearly shocked and agitated that Bloomy would be thanking Burke for leaving so many people without power for over a week. The three Queens pols stood behind Bloomberg rolling their eyes and shaking their heads in disbelief.
“Someone should ask the mayor why the guy playing solitaire deserved to be fired but Kevin Burke, who denied hundreds of thousands of people electricity and lied to people about it, deserves to stay in this job,” Gianaris fumed.
