Between the power outage a week ago and the secret mission this week BlogNYC is extremely pleased to see July come to an end.

I apologize to everyone for the lack of updates around here but as our dear friend and “fill in blogger” Charlie announced I was indeed on a “secret mission”. Well the mission wasn’t so secret, it was just annoying and painful. FIBC (Fill in Blogger Charlie) is just too polite to mention the particulars about why I wasn’t around.

Last Thursday morning I woke up around 5 a.m. with an unidentifed pain in my stomach that radiated through my chest and out my back. Since it was 5 a.m. I convinced myself that it was really late rather than really early and did a few shots to try and ease the pain. Unfortunately, unlike my emotional pain, this one refused to be deadened with the sweet nectar of alcohol.

By around noon the pain was becoming intolerable and I was running out of tequila so I decided to make a trip to the local ER. After a brief examination I was set up for an emergency laparoscopic cholecystectomy the next day. Fortunately, along with this diagnosis, came a beautiful stream of morphine into my veins which really helped open my eyes to the pros of serious opiate addictions.

Anyway, I am out now, and have replaced my gallbladder with a new, technologically advanced gallbladder that can produce two times more bile than before. And guess what? I plan on passing that bile directly on to you, the reader!

Also, before you say it, no I’m not “old”. It’s mostly a genetic thing and the girl in the bed next to me had the same surgery and she was only 20, so suck it. I’ll probably be back to at least partial posting tomorrow and hopefully full time wonderments by the end of the week.

Thanks to everyone who called and wrote and sent flowers. It was much appreciated.
