We’re not at all surprised that the Post would play the race card in a headline, we just can’t figure out what they were trying to accomplish. Do they not care that the black population declined? Or do they just think it’s not newsworthy?

Here’s the Post’s take on the new census numbers:

The number of whites in New York City has been shrinking the last five years, while the Asian and Hispanic populations have been climbing, according to new figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The entire article doesn’t even mention the black population.

On the contrary, here is the Daily News’ take on the same census numbers:

While the number of black New Yorkers and white New Yorkers has dropped slightly, the number of Asians has boomed, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.

After reading the story in the post you might think white people are being exterminated and forced to move into non-gentrified neighborhoods or something.

So what gives NYP? Why don’t you care about black people?
