The MTA is rolling out the new, automated subway cars on the N line starting today. The R160’s will be running on the N line as part of a 30 day trial. If the trial is successful at the end of the 30 day trial the MTA will be ordering a fleet of 660 cars.
But if the train breaks down for any reason during the 30 days, the trial will have to start from the begining.
We are waiting to hear back from TWU Local 100 to see what if any effects this might have on their workers. Also we should be on the N later so we’ll try and get some more pics.
