EsteĆ© Lauder has edited a video featuring Sandra Bernhard on it’s site after recieving up to 400 complaints from uptight republicans. In the video Bernhard goes on a stream of consciousness type diatribe talking about her lips. The video, which has been up since Aug. 4, recieved a lot of attention yesterday after being linked by the Drudge Report.
At one point in her ramblings Bernhard described an ‘Intimidated, frightened, right-wing Republican thin-lipped b*tch’,” could be any republican, I like to imagine Ann Coulter. After being posted on Drudge, EsteĆ© Lauder was bombarded by angry phone calls by presumably angry republicans.
After watching the video it feels like Lauder edited out the wrong part. They should have cut everything else out and left that part in. The rest of Bernhard’s rather long soliloquy comes off more like Jennifer Coolidge’s character in Best in Show than a strong, siren type marketing cosmetics.
Either way, you don’t ask someone to do an ad like that, post it and then not stand behind it. A spokeswoman for MAC told FishbowlNY, “the video has been getting a lot of attention, which is what we wanted.” If it’s what you wanted then why edit it out?
