A former press secretary to Mayor Giuliani was found strangled to death in his home in Greenwich Village.
The body of Martín Barreto, 49, was found lying naked on the bed of his eighth floor apartment in the Albert building at 23 E. 10th St., near University Place. He died of “asphyxia due to compression of the neck” and his death has been ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said yesterday.
Cops believe that it may have been a tryst that turned fatal. The body was found near an open condom wrapper and lube. I truly hope when I die, the media coverage, if any, does not include the words “naked”, “condom wrapper” or “lubricant”.
