The MTA and the city have agreed to new plans that will extend the Flushing line by one stop to 11th Ave. and 34th St. The deal will cost $2.1 billion and the tab will be picked up by the city as part of their redevelopment plan for the desolate West Side.
The MTA had initially planned to add two new stops as part of the extention, the other at 41st St. and 10th Ave. Officials yesterday said they would build a shell of a station there and leave it available to having a stop there in the future.
Quite a spectacular start to the West Side redevelopment project. The area is sure to be bustling in no time what with the 7 line running through. Hey, maybe Pedro can be the first to ride the new extension. He should have plenty of time on his hands, it’s not like he’ll be pitching in the post season or anything.
