The Hub” was a pitiful excuse for a social-networking site that Wal-Mart launched back in July to coincide with it’s back-to-school campaign.

Wal-Mart claimed the site’s goal was to allow teens to “express their individuality”. And by “express their individuality” they meant, “fit into a hyper-conformist corporate ideal of individuality”.

The site screened all its content, informed parents when their kids joined and forbade users to e-mail one another. Woohoo! It’s party time.

It’s hard to imagine why a site like that wouldn’t wildly succeed.
