So, Barbara Streisand returned to Madison Square Garden last night leaving most of Chelsea looking like an abandoned mining town and leaving the gays as giddy as schoolgirls. Her performance was classic Babs, replete with a 50 piece orchestra, she belted out her classics and, according to the Times, did all of them justice.
The concert didn’t go off without a hitch however. Amidst the squeals and cries of approval Streisand continued her now regular routine of Bush bashing, complete with a Bush impersonator. It seems, however, that not everyone appreciated her political commentary.
After serenading fans with some of her greatest hits, Streisand mocked President Bush.
A few dozen people began to heckle her with one man shouting, “What is this, a fund-raiser?”
An incensed Streisand shot back, “Why don’t you shut the f- - - up. If you can’t take a joke, why don’t you leave and get your money back.”
The man got up and left.
No word on whether he actually got his money back or not.
