The lower lanes of the Manhattan Bridge are getting going to be closed for the next year while crews work on fixing it up.

The D.O.T. suggests that drivers use alternative routes to get across the East River unless you have a lot of time to waste.

The north walkway will also be closed to pedestrians and bikers who will be forced to share the southbound walkway. Something like that hasn’t happened since the great pedestrian/biker riots of ‘83.
