On Tuesday night, outside of P-Diddy’s Justin’s Restaurant, Boston Celtic’s point guard Sebastian Telfair had a $50,000 chain snatched from around his neck. Twenty minutes later rapper Fabolous was shot in the leg outside of the same restaurant.
Today it came out that a security camera identified members of Fabolous’ entourage as the ones who snatched the chain off Telfair’s neck.
The video catches Fabolous’ Brooklyn buddies approaching Telfair outside hip-hop mogul Sean (Diddy) Combs’ W. 21st St. restaurant early Tuesday, the sources said yesterday.
One of Fabolous’ pals can be seen grabbing the chain from Telfair’s neck while another, decked out in a Brooklyn T-shirt, keeps watch, the sources said.
The thieves then bolted into Diddy’s restaurant Justin’s, the sources said.
Telfair, a point guard for the Boston Celtics, followed the crooks inside and saw them laughing with members of Fabolous’ crew - known as the Street Family, the sources said.
Telfair, who grew up in Coney Island, pulled out his cell phone and made a call, the sources said.
Twenty-three minutes later, a security camera outside the restaurant captured the gunman who shot 28-year-old Fabolous in a nearby parking lot driving off in a gray car, the sources said. The rapper was not believed to be the gunman’s target, the sources added.
Telfair’s lawyer, Ed Hayes, says that he merely called a member of his family to tell them what had happened and there were no nefarious motives behind the call. “He’s a lovely young man. It was outrageous what these punks did, and he will press charges,” said Hayes.
