Apparently the only thing done more rushed and half-assed than the search for human remains at Ground Zero was the search for toxins at Ground Zero.
“In order to ensure worker safety during the search for remains, the city’s Department of Environmental Protection will conduct ongoing air and material sampling at the affected locations,” Deputy Mayor Ed Skyler said in a statement.
“If any asbestos is detected, workers will use the proper protective gear,” he added. “This protocol was developed with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.”
