The Metropolitan Montessori School, a private elementary school in Manhattan, has become the first school to switch to renewable energy for all of it’s energy needs.
The school purchased 136,000 kWh of wind energy through Community Energy’s NewWind Energy, a program that supplies energy from newly developed wind farms.
“By purchasing renewable green power for 100% of its electric energy requirements, the Metropolitan Montessori School is setting an excellent example for other educational institutions throughout the city and state,” says Jorge Lopez, ConEdison Solutions’ president and chief executive officer.
