Much to the relief of Carroll Gardens/Red Hook residence, Kate Ascher, executive vice president of the city’s Economic Development Corp., stated that there will be no luxury condos erected on the 120 Acres from pier 7 in Columbia Heights to Pier 12.

Changes that will be made to the waterfront include breweries, a marina, a second cruise ship terminal and ferry services to Governors Island.

Additionally, Ascher assured longshoremen, union leaders and elected officials that “no existing longshore jobs will be lost,” although she conceded that new jobs generated through the project would be part time. However, concerns about the city’s plan to displace Piers 8 to 10 are still relevant
