Huge rats are a natural part of the city and, if one wants to live here, she just needs to get used to everyday encounters with their beady eyes, pointy noses and sneaky, disease ridden bodies that can creep in between tiny crevices. Usually, though, one anticipates the rat’s presence in subways and on the streets in lower Manhattan, not in her classroom. However, a source from the Department of Education reported that a Brooklyn student was hospitalized yesterday after he received a little bite from a bold, but no less disgusting, rat.
The rat bit him while he was in “time out” at Ps 231 in Borough Park. Man, that’s some pretty severe punishment. What did he do? Steal someone else’s snack? That’s gross.
