Brooklyn Principal Mendis Brown swears she did not tell special-ed student, Lamarre St Phard, that he did not “have the brains” for a spelling bee.
Lamarre, who won the school spelling bee because the school did not allow any other classes to compete, was led to believe that he was a champion. He was dismayed to hear that the school, due to a lack of foresight in their plan to make him feel good about his victory, would not allow him to move on to the next level.
Later that day, he failed to win one of the top three spots during the school wide spelling bee, which makes him ineligible for the state competition.
Education officials defend Brown. They just know she would not say that because it does not seem like something she would do.
“It’s not in her profile,” Jean-Claude Brizard said of the charges.
That’s all the evidence we need.

Want a neat little picture by your comments? Get one here.I’m guessing that any child who cannot spell his own name correctly would not have moved on in his school spelling bee.
It’s Lamar, little boy. L-A-M-A-R. Lamar.
