Some people, like Michael Richards, utilize all the violence inherent in the N-word to degrade and assault another human. Other times, people use it as a greeting, nickname or as just a part of their slang. In some cases, people can’t say the word at all.
Queens Councilman Leroy Comrie is of the mind that he just wants to never hear it in NYC again. Yesterday, they first day of black history month, he proposed a resolution that calls New Yorkers to reject the word altogether.
“It’s my hope this resolution will spark a dialogue in all communities and begin to move our society, especially in our entertainment culture, toward a place where the n-word is simply unacceptable to be used in any context,” Comrie said.
It would be nice if we didn’t have to hear angry diatribes, peppered with the N-word, but it is impossible to ban a word in a city. There is a little something called free speech that insures that such things don’t happen.
Just a thought.

The mayor of Brazoria, TX, is pushing to ban the word. People using the word in his town will be charged a fine (500 I think). People are fightin the ban, even some black citizens.
