Charlize Theron signed a deal with Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil, which states that, for a considerable amount of money, she would only wear his brand of watch from October 2005 through December 2006. This has proven to be too hard of a job for her and she is now being sued for breach of contract.
According to Newsday:
At a news conference on March 14, 2006, at a film festival in Austin, Texas, court papers say, Theron “was actually photographed wearing a watch from the Christian Dior line.” A photo of her wearing the watch is included as an exhibit.
The court papers also say, “Although the agreement clearly prohibits (Theron) from appearing in any advertisement for any jewelry, even for charity, she appeared wearing a necklace in an advertisement benefiting an AIDS charity, violating the agreement, from February 2006 to December 2006.”
We understand that it is pretty dumb of her to wear a Dior watch, but it might behoove Weils to overlook the AIDS charity violation. It kind of makes them seem like the money hungry company who has no regard for human life that they, apparently, are.
