Rookie cops Patrick Lynch and Christine Schmidt, for their act of heroically tackling an armed thug after he beat another cop, received a $500 reward.
This is supposed to be a considerable amount for the cops and not at all insulting since they make crap money. Cops, while in the academy, make $25,100 a year to risk their lives; after they graduate, they receive a raise to $32,700 a year after.
Lynch, who is a far better person than I, said, “I’m sure everyone in America needs more money, but I’m proud to be an officer in the NYPD.”
I will say what Lynch may be thinking. “F-that.” I am sure their lives are worth a little more than $500. I mean, for me, who sits on a computer all day and sells cupcakes by night, that’s a decent amount. But I am not out there dealing with people carrying guns. I’d be pissed if I were them; I would think that heroic acts are worth a raise, at least.

Want a neat little picture by your comments? Get one here. Thanks for recognizing the tremendous sacrifices the NYPD make every day to keep us safe. Can you imagine the city w/o them? Funny how ‘gangsta rappers’ with very little talent, but huge egos, pull down millions, while the cops who have to deal with real gansters earn next to nothing!! Priorities?
