A woman from Dallas, who doesn’t want her name made public, is a really bad tipper and, now, everyone in New York knows about it. She gave a 30-cent tip on a $10.70 fare.
Despite her inconsiderate actions, Osman Chowdhury, the New York cabbie who drove her home, returned the 31 diamond rings she left in the taxi.
I know that if I were Chowdhury, I would’ve kept the diamonds and justified it as Karmic retribution. Apparently, he and I don’t think the same way.
He said, “all my life, I tried to be honest. Today is no different.”
The Texan further made herself look like a jerk by offering Chowdhury an insulting $100 reward.
He refused all but enough money to cover the fare he lost while trying to track her down.
He killed her with kindness and said, “I cannot take a penny for being honest.”
Those two people couldn’t more different from one another and I think I prefer the cabbie. In fact, can we trade in all our women from Texas for all the Osman Chowdhury’s in the world?
