Leave it to the Republicans of NYU to create a game in which participants point out the individual wearing the “Illegal Immigrant” nametag and not call it racist.
The winner receives a gift certificate to some undisclosed location as well as the opportunity to act as an INS worker arresting an illegal immigrant, which is really exciting.
The College Republicans vehemently deny how horrible the game is.
“It’s not a racist event, first and foremost,” said Sarah Chambers, 21, president of the College Republicans. “Just because we don’t want illegal immigrants being able to completely disregard the laws of our country doesn’t make us racist.”
This is game is supposedly going to open up dialogue on the issue of immigration. We don’t understand how this is anything beyond a bit of role play in which an entire group of people are isolated and chastised.

ummmm…isn’t it evident that I do think it is offensive and racist? I am sorry if that wasn’t clear.
